To combat noise and pollution, Barcelona has set up a travel plan with the clear objective of giving the streets back to the local people. For each superblock – a sort of mini-district – through traffic is only possible at the edges, with access to the interior of the superblocks being reserved for residents and deliveries and limited to 10 km/h. It’s an ambitious scheme that frees up room for squares or green spaces. A possible source of inspiration for Brussels? Discover the analysis of Barcelona.
