Over the past few years, we have seen the development of new services which allow you to use a car on demand on a shared basis. Given that the average Belgian household’s car is inactive 97.6% of the time, car-sharing has the advantage of optimising use, thus reducing the number of vehicles owned and consequently the amount of public space occupied by parked vehicles. It follows that it should lead to the more rational use of individual cars, i.e. a reduction in the number of kilometres travelled by car. What are the different services offered in the Brussels Region, and above all, what impact could they have on regional mobility?
